Sept 2009

The August meeting of the First State Brewers was held at the home of Marty Drinan.   Click on the picture below to see an album of the meeting.
August 21, 2009 First State Brewers meeting at Marty Drinan's house.

As usual when Marty hosts the meeting, a tour of his steam-powered all-grain brewing system was conducted.   Pictures of Marty’s brewing system can be seen on the website photo album.

One topic of discussion was the upcoming Delaware Saengerbund
Oktoberfest
on September 18, 19 & 20.  It was agreed that we try to meet up and enjoy the event together.  An email will be sent out with details as we near that time.

Also discussed was the Baltimore Beer Week.  Their website states, “The event will begin with a cask- tapping ceremony on October 8th and will conclude on October 18.”   Sounds like a road trip may be in order!

Dave Stanley also recommended a trip to Lancaster Brewing.

It was brought to my attention that some people wish to receive a meeting notice sooner than the week of the meeting.  To that I say, these meetings are usually held on the 3rd Friday of every month.  The meeting date will be posted on the the website at least a month in advance.  The meeting notice email should only serve as a source for directions and a reminder of the meeting.  If you can’t remember the 3rd Friday of the month, mark your calendars.  I’ve been a member of this club for almost 20 years.  This has always been the date of the meetings.  Somehow, I always remember when the meeting are.  So, I don’t want to hear any more whining out of you folks!  LOL!  ;-)

The September meeting will be held at the home of Dave Stanley.   The meeting will be Friday, 9-18-2009.  Dave lives in the Christiana Meadows apartments off of Rt. 7 in Bear.
