Nov 2012

The October Meeting of the First State Brewers was held at the home of Jason Breault. Jason was kind enough to be a last-minute host, as Bill was unable to host due to an unexpected problem.

Nominations were open for the election of club officers. Nominations will be open again at the November meeting. The following people were nominated for offices:

Scott Bieber nominated for President.
Brian Light nominated for Vice-President.
Tammy Perlot nominated for Secretary.

We had a special guest at the meeting.  Luke Bowen, from the Evil Genius Beer Company, talked to us about his contract brewing company and shared samples of his brews.  Thanks Luke!

By the way, if you haven’t joined the First State Brewers Facebook Group, you are missing out on a lot of great brewing discussion! We have lots of fun, too! This is different than the Facebook Page we have. The Group allows us to interact with one another. :-)

Ron Price discussed the AHA Homebrew Conference Club Night.  Ron suggests we acquire or build a jockey box like this: http://www.simplybeer.com/jockey-box/

Club Competition

Its gonna be a first come first serve type of event and no more than 20 entries.  Those that enter will need to bring either 2 16oz bottles or equivalent.  The recipe must be at least 60% malted barley.  One entry per person.  Kent will print out score sheets for the club numbered 1-20.  The beers that are entered will be numbered accordingly.  Members will judge the beers on taste, appearance and aroma and number them 1-10, 10 being great and 1 being not so much.  The numbers will be tallied after the meeting and the highest score will be the winner.

The November meeting will be held at the home of Scott Bieber on Friday, November 16, at 7:30pm.
