The December meeting of the First State Brewers was held at the home of Brian Verdine and Moriah Guise.
Club Elections
Nominations were re-opened for the election of club officers. The election was held after a couple more nominations were made.
The new club officers for 2013 are as follows:
Scott Bieber President.
Brian Light Vice-President.
Moriah Guise Secretary.
Chuck McKenna Treasurer.
Kent Spriggs, Jason Breault & Dan Wightman “Other”.
A big THANK YOU is in order for the 2012 club officers! Last year saw a surge in club attendance and activity. Much of that can be attributed to the efforts of the club officers.
AHA National Homebrewers Conference in Philadelphia (June 27th-29th)
Tickets go on sale on February 5th!!
Moriah – Iron Hill has a few 6 tap picnic tap setups that we could possibly borrow. Will not be able to confirm this until closer to the date per Brian Finn (head brewer in Wilmington)
Andrew – Has a 6 tap soda keg set up that we could use if need be.
Jason – Offered up his tap set up from the brewery if need be.
Scott – Will be setting up a meeting in January for officers to discuss a theme development/plan for the club booth. Things to think about are handouts, posters, chalkboard “what’s on tap” boards, etc.
Dan – Suggested making a master list of who’s brewing what so that we have a good variety of beer from the club. The idea of a Google document that everyone could access/sign up on seemed to go over well.
Moriah – Is it worth looking into selling stickers/t-shirts at the conference to raise money for the club treasury? We may need to talk to JoeBob about getting more printed and the cost from his connection if we decide to do this.
Miscellaneous
Dan – Suggested finding a charity that the club could raise money for/donate to as a general good deed. Jason said he would help Dan with that.
The Simonsons discussed a Queens homebrewing tour on January 12th.
Bill King discussed a beer dinner he was organizing for December 28 at Prost Restaurant in Port Deposit.
Jason offered to head up an idea discussion on Facebook so discussion time at meetings would not take away from other meeting activities. ;-)
$17 were collected for dues and will be given to the new treasurer at the next meeting.
Here’s the attendance and beers brought by club members.

By the way, if you haven’t joined the First State Brewers Facebook Group, you are missing out on a lot of great brewing discussion! We have lots of fun, too! This is different than the Facebook Page we have. The Group allows us to interact with one another. :-)
