Feb 2013

The January meeting of the First State Brewers was held at the home of Tehra Boyser.

Discussed was the 2nd 1st Annual Kolsch Competition to be held at the February Meeting. This meeting will now be held at the home of Brian Light as Bill King has made a personal decision to sever ties with FSB until further notice. (We all hope he decides to come back)

The competition is going on as planned. It will be run/judged using the same set up that was used for the club challenge during the meeting at Scott Bieber’s in the past.

It was suggested to post the Kolsch “basics” on the facebook page so that everyone had a good idea of what to judge by/look for during the competition.

If planning to bring a Kolsch for the competition, please bring either 1 growler or 3-12 oz. bottles for tasting.

AHA National Homebrewers Conference in Philadelphia (June 27th-29th)

Tickets go on sale on February 5th!!

The official location has been announced as the downtown Marriot hotel.

We need to focus on getting a banner/sign made up for the booth for club night on Friday. Suggestions were made for creating a PVC rig for holding the sign up above/behind the booth area.
Marty – Suggested making sure that the club website was a main point on the banner so that people can easily find the club through the banner. The idea was also put out there to have a QR code developed for quick capture on cell phones to direct people to the club website.

It was recommended that the banner/sign be a generic layout that we could use for future events that the club is involved in.

Brian Light – Volunteered to spearhead getting the banner specifics figured out.

Ron Price – Strongly suggests that a committee is formed for assigning specifics for the conference. Scott will send out an email for forming committees.

There is a document on the club website for people to sign up to volunteer to brew beer for Club Night. We need to set a deadline for sign ups so that we can have a solid idea of what we are working with in plenty of time.

Future Meetings
*The “Other Committee” members are going to be tasked with coming up with ideas for future meetings (ie. guest speakers, presentations, topics to be discussed, etc.)

February 15th – Scheduled to be held at the home of Brian Light (no longer being held at Bill King’s.) The 2nd 1st Annual Kolsch Competition will still take place.

April 19th – Tentatively scheduled to be held at the home of JoeBob Jacobs.
