Big Brew
The First State Brewers will be brewing all day this Saturday, May 2, 2009. The Big Brew is sponsored by the American Homebrewers Association in celebration of National Homebrew Day, which is recognized each year on the first Saturday in May all around the world.
FSB member, Dave Lawrence, is hosting this event at his home in Newark, DE. All-grain brewing takes 6 hours, so plan on coming early and staying late!
Setup of brewing systems will begin at 8:00 am. Brewing should begin shortly after the systems are setup.
Should be a lot of fun! If you would like to attend, please RSVP to BigBrew@firststatebrewers.com. I will reply with directions.
Dave would like to know how many people he can expect. Dave will be cooking food on his grill and asks that people come with side dishes, if they can.

- Seth : Hey everyone, big weekend for beer. Sat is the 7th annual Newark Food and Brew Fest. At least 4 new brewers (including 2 Belgian) that I can tell. Also this weekend is Stewart's Brewing Co's 15th Anniv. They're having stuff all week starting Fri.

- Seth : Have to have an organization in order to get them? If we bring in cones to compare at a meeting is it "research?" I say yes!
- Seth : Think maybe they'll buy "research" on the testing local terrestrial conditions (terroir) and lattitude orientation variabilities on the flavor and aromatic proporties on various hops varieties in regards to brewing and other commercial applications? Worth a shot, I say.
- Seth : Interested in the Southern Brewer and the Blue Northern Brewer, myself.
- Scott Johnson : looks interesting, but seems that you have to report back on your "research" May have to try it....researchin g about how homegrown hops makes my beer better :)
- Seth : Interesting. Saw this from Morebeer's facebook posting: USDA Germplasm Resourse Information Network (GRIN) has hops rhizomes for free, for research purposes. Anyone tried it? Here's the link: «link»

The Twin Lakes Brewery is a 25 barrel brew house in Greenville, DE.
Iron Hill Brewery is a local chain of brewpubs with great beer and food!
Stewart's Brewing Co. is a local brewpub in Bear, Delaware with a fun party atmosphere!
Dogfish Head Brewery brews some of the best beer in the world and they're located right here in Delaware!

Delmarva United Homebrewers aka. DUH. We brew, we drink, we have a little fun. Meetings are the second Thursday of every month at Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Summer meetings are held elsewhere, unless we get an invite. (This is a great club for people living down-state!)
