C’est la vie

Monday, September 12th, 2005

I will be unable to attend this month’s meeting. My wife has another commitment that supercedes my need to go and wax zymurgic with the other club members and sample the fruits of their labor. So I will have to stay home and sample mine own.

I brewed a pumpkin ale this past Saturday evening - It went fantastic, the wort smelled heavenly (and extremely squashy / pumpkiny) going into the carboy. My wife swooned, which she is not prone to do. I think it’ll be a good one.

This coming weekend is 10 gallons of Belgian Wit, followed by 10 gallons of Peated Scottish 80/-, and sometime very soon - Ommeclone, an Ommegang abbey ale clone using recultured yeast and the clone recipe from the latest issue of Brew Your Own magazine.

Will the fall bring a hiatus to the madness, once my kegs are completely filled? Who knows. There is always lagering….

I’m hoping this gets to Scott Bieber , whom I spoke to at the AHA rally at Iron Hill.

Hey Scott,

I just wanted to touch base with you about the December meeting at Fordham Brewery in Dover, that we discussed at the AHA rally in Wilmington. We’ve set it up for Thursday, December 8th - since our club meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month. I have not nailed down an exact start time yet, and one our members is checking with them about bringing in some food for the get-together - I’ll let you know the status on that, as well as everything else as soon as I find out anything.

Doug and I had a great time talking with you and Marty at the Iron Hill event, and hopefully it can open some doors to further joint events down the road. Have you heard any more from Mark at Iron Hill about the checks he was going to send out? I received an email from him shortly after the event and he said he would mail the check out, but I haven’t gotten it yet. I guess I better send him a note too.

That’s all for now, and I’ll keep you posted about the Fordham tour as well as other stuff our our club is planning. By the way, we meet on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Dogfish Head in Rehoboth, starting at 7pm - in case you or any of your members are ever down this way, feel free to stop in. Cheers!

Peace-Out!
