The Return of Chazz’s Brew News
I read the other day that Anheuser-Busch was coming out with a new alcoholic seltzer water (their products do not deserve the honorific “beer”) with caffeine in it. Not surprisingly, quoted authorities described it as miserable, but is that a surprise? As long as A-B, Miller, and other producers of alcoholic seltzer water (hereafter i will refer to this group as “Coorsweiser”) are run by people more interested in cornering shelf space than in producing quality beer, we will continue to get concocted trash of this sort in never-ending attempts to corner shelf space. Ice beer crashed and burned, red beer crashed and burned, i hereby predict that caffeine beer will crash and burn. (I must admit that lite beer has been commercially successful, unfortunately this success just encouraged the jerks.)

What do you expect? They’re in business to corner shelf space, nothing else. You don’t get to be a huge company by focusing on quality over quantity. That’s how it is in any business. Don’t expect anything more out of the Budweisers and Millers of the world.

Busch stock was at $50/share at yesterday’s closing. I have to admit I like some of the Smirnov’s “Twisters,” or whatever they’re called.

I call myself a woman who lives in a condo with a small kitchen and works three jobs to make ends meet. Besides, I didn’t say I drank Smirnov’s BEER. That said, I found most “malt beverages” repulsive, with Zima probably the most repulsive of all.

Garrett likes to add Amarillo hops to his brew. Jane like to name her brew, “Cat Spit”, or something along those lines.

Pleased to meet you,Garrett. Cat spit, hmm, reminds me of an old “Saturday Night Live” bit, “Dog Vomit,” but I digress. Am I actually allowed to post the REAL names of my beers on this spot? It upset the filthy swine I worked for. Hard to believe it’s been more than ten years. Do you realize some of us have known each other twelve years or more? Ouch!

By the way, when is the last time you brewed? Do you still have your brewing equipment?
