I purchased my Sanyo BC-1206 after some shopping around and looking at various options. I actually bought mine on Amazon because it had free shipping, and while other places had lower prices, they ended up being more when shipping was added in. I think I paid $500-600 for mine.

I have heard many great things about about the True line of kegerators too. They've got a large capacity (hold 4 cornie kegs) and an industrial compressor that lasts forever. They are a little larger than the Sanyo unit, and come with some nice features like stainless steel tops. These were running in the $1000-1200 range though, last I looked.

There are other options which are less expensive, but they require you to do a little constructing - and if your kids are buying it for you, a kegerator is probably the way to go.

If you want to discuss more, shoot me an e-mail - garrett_AT_firststatebrewers.com...

Hey Garrett,

Believe it or not, my kids (ages 19 through 26) are buying me a Kegerator (spelling?). Do you have any recommendations?

There was one published directly from Randy Thiel in BYO several issues back. If you search the BYO website, you should be able to find which one.
